The Palace Building was Constructed in 1913 by Russian immigrant Simon Jankowsky. Jankowsky, who had run Palace Clothiers in Tulsa since 1904, initially erected the first five floors of the building. Early occupants of the upper floors included prominent oilmen Josh Cosden, Harry Sinclair, and C.J. Wrightsman. In 1917, the addition of four floors played a pivotal role in establishing the refining headquarters of the Texas Co., now recognized as Texaco.

Following the closure of Palace Clothiers in 1960, the building changed ownership multiple times until it was acquired by World Publishing Co. in 1997. Several years ago, the newspaper contemplated demolishing the structure. However, the ownership converted the building into apartments and welcomed the first tenants in 2017.
